These ideas require technical knowledge and are only for intermediate to advanced webmasters or people with an ability to ‘work things out’. If you are an absolute beginner and have limited technical knowledge then don’t waste your time here unless you really want a steep learning curve.

Traffic Idea 1 – Crazy Contest
Hold a crazy content contest and make it go viral. Promote it through forums in your niche.

If you have a monetary prize – it will generate lots of traffic.

Traffic Idea 2 – Create Videos
Videos are an incredibly powerful way to drive traffic and grab attention for your products or services. Depending on your level of experience, creating a video could take a fair bit of time.

Traffic Idea 3 - RSS
Add an RSS feed to your blog. This is not that hard but will take you a while to work out how to do it if you are not ‘tech’ savvy.

Traffic Idea 4 - Software
Create a software program and give it away for free. This is difficult unless you are a programmer or willing to hire a good one.

Traffic Idea 5 - Surveys
Conduct a survey about a particular product in your niche. This will take a significant amount of effort. If it hold relevant up to date results people are likely to link to it.

Traffic Idea 6 – Start Your Own Newsletter
Start your own newsletter or Ezine. This will also require an email list to email it to. To get one of these you will require an opt in email service provider like Aweber or Get Response.

You will need to pay for these. This isn’t expensive, but if you are not making anything then maybe you should consider getting some income first before you start spending.

Traffic Idea 7 - Auto responder
Use an auto responder or email campaign to keep people coming back to your site. Two good ones are Get Response or Aweber.

Traffic Idea 8 – Monitor Competitors
Monitor your competitors and the top ranked websites to see what they are doing right in the way of design, navigation, content and keywords.

This is really only once you have established yourself in your niche but you could see how others are doing things and replicate what they are doing.

Traffic Idea 9 – Be An Expert
Demonstrate your industry and product or service expertise by writing and submitting articles for your website or for article banks so you are perceived as an expert in your field.

Obviously you will need to know a bit about what you are talking about to be considered and expert.

Traffic Idea 10 – Dynamic Content
Don't look at your website as a static brochure. Treat it as a dynamic, ever-changing sales tool and location, just like your real store to which your customers with the same seriousness.

There is a lot of work required building your website and a reasonable amount of work to update it depending on how large it is.

Search Engine Traffic (SEO) type of traffic is great, if you can get your website high in search engine rankings.

Search Engine traffic takes time and effort to develop, and requires both on and off-page optimization techniques'.

There is too much to mention here about SEO. Just look on the internet and you will find heaps of information.

Traffic Idea 12 – Amazon Profile
Create an Amazon profile and start submitting reviews. This will take a bit of time to set up. Once you have started though you will be able to add a few reviews every now and again without too much effort.

Brand your website so that visitors always know they are on your site Use consistent colors, logos and slogans and always provide a 'Contact Us' link on each page.

Press releases are a little-known and incredibly powerful method of marketing your products and services.

If your site is popular and has quality unique content then apply to get listed in Google's News search.

Traffic Idea 16 – Triangular Reciprocal Linking
Create a couple of small page sites related to your main site Offer links on these smaller sites in return for links to your main site (this is triangular reciprocal linking).

Get yourself known as an expert and get featured in offline magazines, TV and radio stations.

Use an auto-translator service to translate your site into other languages - put it in a subdirectory and watch foreign traffic come in.

Make a Newsletter may sound like hard work because of all the articles you may need to use to build a newsletter but on the contrary, this is not so.

Do something controversial.

Submit videos to video sharing sites like YouTube and Metacafe Include a link in the description and within the actual video

Hold a competition for the Top in your niche - month later post the results and let everyone know who featured - watch them link back to say what there position was

Create and sell a product with resell or giveaway rights and include a link to your site in it o others pass it around for you.

Send articles to ezine publishers that includes a link to your website

Traffic Idea 28 – Create a product for Clickbank.com
Create and sell a product for Clickbank.com. This will cost you time and money.
